Are You Breathing?
Q: Are You Breathing?
A: Under a knee? Behind a mask? Swarmed by locusts? In the midst of the sandstorm? Can’t summer in the south of France? Everyone has their relative anxiety-inducing reality. One equals death, the other equal inconvenience. We share a world and yet we each live in our own. There are as many different realities as there are people on this planet. Some people share common circumstances thus their days are similar, yet most hover inside a bubble of their own creation. Whatever it is, be it horrific, sad, or exhilarating and inspiring, it is familiar and, in that familiarity, there is a false sense of security; or an idea that the world as I know it is indeed the world.
What if a world of unity was one of a shared reality? Where we could each express ourselves, and sing our voices and truths as the unique and exotic birds that we are, yet we all lived in the same tree of life? Instead, the current world stage offers a stark mirror of dualistic nature in this moment, black and white, democratic and republican, masks and no masks. What side are you on? And how is being on a “side” the answer, ultimately? Do we really think we can co-create a new future with such a penetrating divide?
And what about free will? This implies that I have a choice, yet the issue at hand is that we are navigating a choiceless paradigm. Thankfully, paradigms come in and go out with cosmic style, and one day this conundrum will dissolve as the new one arrives, bringing forth actual change. This isn’t something that happens to us as a collective, rather the paradigm of the moment is a state of being that we individually choose. To clarify, when the collective mind shares a common state of being, we all consciously or unconsciously agree upon the current paradigm. The irony, we are unconsciously choosing to live before the choiceless scenario.
An example. It feels like we don’t have a choice when the two candidates for the presidency are geriatric white men, both accused of sexual misconduct, have a historically racist track record, and feel or have felt they have ownership over the bodies of women, not to mention they collectively raised over a quarter-billion dollars in campaign donations last month alone. The result? This election will be a very expensive ad campaign designed to convince us of who is the lesser evil. And isn’t that why we’ve gotten lost in this agreement to live in a choiceless paradigm in the first place? We’ve given up on what is possible, we have settled out of laziness and fear and internally lament…Won’t someone just make this all go away??
The only way around this is through it. Whoever “wins” this election, as we vote “against” the other rather than “for” anyone, will be the “choice” to sit upon the White throne. They will in turn have to be the leader of the choiceless moment. They can either drive this illusion into the fertile soil screaming, clanging, and vice-gripping all the way out of terror, or from a place of true humility, they could allow the decrepit and corrupt system to dissolve—uncomfortably, yes, yet with dignity nonetheless.
A full moon lunar eclipse in Capricorn, charged by a sparkling trine with Uranus, wraps up this recent eclipse season with some panache. With so much “retrograde” circulating within the starlit skies, it isn’t a surprise we are still in a holding pattern of the great unknown. Saturn has retro-returned to its earthly terrain of Capricorn until December 17th as Mars has entered into its fiery realm of Aries, only to go retrograde September 9th-November 19th. Both of these powerful agents emulating discipline and action are in transit through the kingdoms they reign. They will be exposing new opportunities for us to align with our right action, while retrograde, and instill the discipline to maintain it once direct again. Watch for these themes playing out in your inner and outer world.
The unpredictable nature that surges through the freedom-seeking Uranus trine, is strangely in tune with the US holiday Independence Day. One has to ask, now that we are actually looking to our history with truth in our veins, do our holidays actually mean what they say or say what they mean? Is Hallmark the next statue to tumble and fall? What did Jesus mean when he said,...And the truth shall set you free – John 8:32? It appears our freedom has a high ticket price, costing us our beloved illusions and comforts. And nothing can compare to the priceless experience of our true liberation. Let freedom ring!
We know the drill by now, every birth is preceded by a death. My oh my what rebirth awaits this nation if the rebirth is as light, as the death is dark. We’ve been living in the darkness for far too long! Time to wake up, school awaits us on this early morning of possibility.
A very favorite phrase of my heart is too appropriate for the decade at hand…This too shall pass, and there will be more…so hold on tight, and let go.

If you really knew me, you’d know that I spend a significant amount of time traversing the inner realms of my psyche. I am not speaking only of traditional meditation techniques or purely psychedelic journeys but rather observing myself
Who else has been lying on their floor this week? There has been such an intense buildup towards this Sagittarius Full Moon, one of deep guttural change throughout many layers of the psyche.
Who else is feeling the paradoxical blend that is this moment? The expansiveness, so full of hope, possibility, and creativity. Also, the contrast perhaps? Both the sobering and contractive realm and the jubilant, celebration can be found within the full spectrum that is humanity at large, coming in every shape, size, color, and origin.
A new beginning is on the horizon, the beginning of something extraordinary. Can you feel it? Have you been intuiting a change but haven’t been exactly sure what that change would be? It is quite possible that over the next two weeks, you shall receive the clarity, the confidence, and that extra boost of luck you’ve been waiting for…
After decades of feeling the call, I am finally a student of the art that is Qi Gong. Throughout my life, I’ve had several opportunities to explore modalities of embodiment that weave together the mind, body, and spirit. Yoga has been my primary practice for the last 3 decades, starting early as a counter to my competitive athletic endeavors as a child. Wow, that feels like an eternity and (at the same time) is just a moment, a mere glimpse of life that occurs on this planet through the consistent cycles of birth, life, and death. We are all such unusual and unique individuals with various needs, backgrounds, and origin stories. Perhaps, for me, I had to build a foundation of exploring my inner realms physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually to practice Qi Gong in the way I wanted to. And it is here where I begin…
This is not just any full moon, nor just any full moon in Scorpio. Does anyone else feel that the intensity of the recent astrology is somehow on purpose? As a means of conveying a message of sorts? I make up that the cosmic thunderous rhetoric of this decade - starting with that Saturn/Pluto conjunction just after the Cancer Full Wolf Moon Lunar Eclipse in January of 2020 - is less of an invitation and more of a coercion to attune with self-responsibility…
Not to be confused with What Is Changing?... As I observe from my POV, I can’t actually see anything in my life that isn’t changing. How many of you can relate to this? Here are some examples of how change is moving through me. My mind is being stretched, my heart is melting open, my energy is being consolidated, and my body is shifting its gravitational center. What forms of change are showing up in your world?
Hello friends, and welcome to the climatic New Moon Total Solar Eclipse in Aries. We’ve come so far having worked this relational axis on a deep level. Whether you are and have been conscious of this process or not, it most likely hasn’t been an easy few weeks. Poignant, provocative, even perhaps alchemical, but easy? Definitely not. Threads of heartstrings are being pulled from their roots, igniting a rebirth in all of your relations. This Aries New Moon is calling you to attention, especially around one of the most significant relationships in your life, the one you have with yourself…
During Eclipse Season there is a special portal through which you can discover so much about yourself in ways unfathomed. A special invitation arises in which you can surf the waves of your destined path and make ample progress if that is something you want. Suppose one traverses the South Node Lunar Full Moon Eclipse in Libra toward the North Node Solar New Moon Eclipse in Aries with awareness and focused intention. In that case, you can consciously work to release the outdated and unuseful relational patterns and habits that have haunted you through life and prepare for a new and sovereign modality of being. This isn’t about hyping up your independent nature, this is about reclaiming the parts of yourself that have been distributed to others in ways that do not serve you or anyone else, truly…
For me, I’m learning just how emotionally reserved I’ve been living my entire life. Meaning, I am not blasted open right now, if anything, I’ve been in a process of melting down the internal glacial sphere around my heart that has kept me locked up and frozen in protective gear since childhood. So I am somewhere between drowning and floating. Truly though, no one has gotten past my own interior “wall” that is much like that of the Game of Thrones massive fortification made of ice and stone that borders the Kingdom of the North. This is where Winter comes from…
Great question! I am studying this one up close and personally as I am currently peeling off my psychological skin cell by cell and feeling so utterly squeezed as I wriggle through the grip of my current planetary transits. It is as if they have sunk their teeth into my old ways of being and the only way to liberate myself is to shed and let go and become naked under the sun. In other words, shuck off constructs, habits, emotions, and attachments that have kept me in particular patterns of behavior…
Pisces Season is an invitation to the vastness that is the inner world. A dimension of self that can only be accessed through deep meditation, conscious contemplative activities, or through our dream states. Dreaming is an extracurricular activity for most and some are hardly present to this notion, however for the Pisces within us, dreaming is a vehicle for communication. It is through this mystical terrain that the connection to Being is illuminated via symbols, small theatrical visions of circumstance, and understanding accessed retrospectively when recounting the previous evening journey during “sleep”…
On this waning Sagittarius moon, my heart is deepening into prayer and I invite you to join me. Please feel free to speak to your Creator, Great Spirit, Universe, Divine, All That Is, etc. where I speak to the Lord of Lords…
Tracing Virgo's genesis, you will come to the Vestal Virgin—representing the purest of pure. The Vestal Virgins were the priestesses of Vesta who were honored to guard the temple’s sacred fire or the original hearth. This sacred fire is both literal and metaphorical, a fire that represents both the cosmic and the terrestrial, and is both ancient and eternally new. Welcome to the paradox of Virgo…
This week has been a strong one, beautiful in many ways but also incredibly painful as I’ve been pulled into an ocean of grief. As someone who loves change, I also can tend to romanticize the notion until it becomes so real there is nowhere else to go except into the change itself. And there within lies the death of what has been. I then enter a mourning over that loss, and later find myself steeped in prayers for the eventual rebirth of what may come. But that mourning is a deep part of the journey…
The definition of a rumble is a continuous deep and resonant sound. And a living semblance of an auditory configuration emerging from the depths of my psyche means either one of two things to me. 1. A dragon has awakened (which interestingly enough we have now entered the year of the Dragon according to the Chinese New Year. or 2. Change. At this moment, I am deeply present to the latter and am asking myself - “again”?!
Deep ancient ravines of contextual matter are surfacing for me this week. And Chiron has a lot to do with it. If you don’t know what Chiron refers to, it is an indelible asteroid named after the mythological centaur teacher of Achilles and Asclepius. His life is a profound story of making gold from the gutter and of not only having survived cosmic traumas but thriving in becoming a wisdom keeper and a true guiding light for many heroes throughout Greek Mythology. Wherever this asteroid lives in your chart, it is teaching you about your core wounding and how you can transmute it for both your own healing and eventually become the wounded healer for others in your life. Any healer you’ve ever been to is only a healer because they’ve healed themselves of something…
Have you noticed that almost everyone in your circle knows that astrology exists and even further may have a sense of what Mercury in retrograde means? Pulling back into a more objective view, it appears that we are living in a time where the exploration of the self has become more accepted as not only an elective choice but for many - a necessary act. With a magnetic pull towards tools and resources to support the journey inward, breathwork, yoga, meditation, plant medicine, astrology, sound, etc have/are becoming heavily popularized on a mass scale while religion is losing popularity with new generations…
Is today your birthday? The odds point to no, yet if it is, the happiest of solar returns to you! PS Many of you who see me for Astrotherapy have asked me what a Solar Return reading is. It is a reading that reveals the themes for the year ahead by casting a chart that is indicative of the sun being at the same degree as on your birth chart which could happen the day of, before, or after your actual birthday. I don’t often share this but you can indeed shift your solar return chart depending on where you spend your birthday toward a more favorable reading. And trust me, I do take this into account when deciding where to celebrate mine every year…
The first new moon of the year, a powerful gravitational pull into the Capricorn sphere of vigilant and strategic footing. This is your life. Take a moment and look around. What do you see? Who is there? What is the tone? What is your mood? And is it changing?
Taste, texture, sound, smell, motion, and vision…through what other ways do you perceive the world? How about through silence? Or perhaps stillness? Sometimes they come together and at others, silence and stillness may live on opposite spectrums of an experience. Sound is a world, and motion, another…And what about color, do you gravitate toward a palette that infuses your day-to-day? Your home, clothing, chosen environments and even your preference for nature are all pigments of your imagination when you become attuned to the possibilities…
Can you imagine a water cocoon? I recently had a dream that I was inside of one. Maybe if I were a whale I would just call it home? Anyhow, a dear friend of my heart reminded me when I shared this with him that this wasn’t the first time I had been in one of these. Rebirth is near, which means this year has been so much about death, release, and honestly, endurance…
This time of year offers a powerful reflection if you’re daring enough to witness yourself on the cusp, the in-between. In these moments, the veil is thinner and we are less apt to choose self-deception if our heart is aligned with the truth. That doesn’t mean it is easy, it means that this time has the potential to be very raw and blazingly authentic. The Winter Solstice is known as a crescendo of darkness in the Northern Hemisphere and yet it is also the opening to the expansive light ahead…
(Raises hand up in the air.) I wonder how many of you out there feel the same way? While this time of year is traditionally so festive and an extrovert's dream, I often find myself pulled into a deep state of inner process. A journey that calls me inward as if following the whisper of the Solstice lullaby bringing me home to myself…
I was only an ocean surfer for about 5 years of my life in my early 20s. I thought that because I had been raised on a snowboard there would be a natural translation of my ability from snow to waves. I was wrong. I didn’t realize how accustomed I had become to being strapped onto my board and knowing that Earth would catch me regardless of where I was jumping from. Surfing waves was a completely new frontier, one of fluidity and unknown…
I love this question because what else is there but now? I mean, despite that most people either live in the past - lamenting, dwelling, yearning to change, or traumatized by what has come before, or live in the future - hopeful, daydreaming of, or worried about a time that has yet to come - now is all we ever have...
As someone who is oriented toward service as a life path, I am often reflecting on to what extent I can actually help people and what kind of circumstance is required for that to be a reality. Over the years I have learned 4 big lessons on this topic 1. I cannot actually help anyone unless I help myself first and 2. I can only help people who are also willing to help themselves because 3. You can’t help anyone if you are sacrificing yourself in order to help them and 4. If they don’t want to help themselves, nobody can help them at all…
Life is beautiful. It is such a gift, perhaps it’s the biggest gift of all…to be alive. And yes, it comes with a full spectrum of human experience that is both shattering and exhilarating, expansive and terrifying, possible and trying - all at the same time. How is it that I get to wake up every morning to this glorious mystery and experience something completely new and different if I so choose (to become aware of the new and different)? Am I in fact free to change my mind and life at any moment? Am I not free if I forget this?..
Memory is such a deep well of exploration. Each of us carries it very near within, not to mention throughout the fabric of our psyche in every ravine, crevasse, and mountain pass that we may stumble upon while traveling through the inner landscape of our beingness. Astrologically our memory is associated with the 4th house and where Cancer represents in your personal chart. And let’s be clear, memory isn’t just about recalling where you put your car keys or only used for ‘memorizing’ words for a middle school play. Memory is an ancient doorway to the past which is where most of you lives…
