What Is Changing?

ASTROLOGICAL INSIGHTS OF THE MOMENT

Q:What is changing?

A: Astrologically, 2023 is poised as a revolutionary year with a spotlight on Pluto, Saturn, and Jupiter providing the scene for the micro and macro tectonic shifts that will carry us through into the rest of this decade. This is not about being comfortable. Although I am tempted to say something about how challenging and radical this moment is as an indicator of the sea change…it is hard to compare “these times” with all times throughout history because, let’s be honest, when has being human ever been easy? Whether dealing with predators, plagues, sanitation, natural disasters, wars, tyrants, and the most challenging of all, ourselves (our ego and the indications of said ego), there has always been an antagonist nipping at our heels.

However, as the geopolitical undercurrents present themselves more fiercely in the next few years while we’re still handicapped (debatable) and healing from the global/societal whiplash of the recent pandemic, there are new self-created villains to navigate. Pluto’s preview into Aquarius is the release party for the dissemination of only the surface information around AI that had previously been privy to those behind closed coding doors of both basements and high-security organizations and institutions. We haven’t seen anything yet…Coming November 19th, 2024 we will set sail into the Aquarian horizon of a new technological future unfolding from within our own bodies. If you think that the blur between church and state has been a battleground, the boundary between body and technology is the new coveted kingdom just waiting to be conquered by the unhinged and greedy lurking powers that be.

SATURN’S INVITATION

Saturn, another heavy-hitting planetary body and the karmic regulator of our cosmos also changed signs and entered Pisces for the next two years. Having just paved a trail for Pluto in Aquarius, Saturn is now highlighting the imbalances between the true and the false in terms of our exploration of mind, spirit, and service. As a Pisces rising I know the allure of relishing in the divine majesty of dreams, possibilities, vision, and the worlds of spirit that permeate the many invisible dimensions of our being. I also witness the razor's edge that is a constant threat in the Piscean domain of escapism with a direct pathway into addiction. For example, as the temperature continues to rise (literally) on the world stage, so will the temptation to escape it through gaming, VR, psychedelics, sex, money, drugs, alcohol, fantasy, and illusion.

The invitation from Saturn is to bring our aligned vision into materialization. Saturn lays the bricks of foundations and provides structure and discipline. The two energies of Saturn and Pisces combined can feel nauseating as the deep Piscean waters may at first reject such a gravitational pull towards solid ground. How we live this is up to us, but it can be and will be a powerful time to find new depths of honesty and rigor within ourselves, enhancing our emotional intelligence. Navigating through the world as we burn the karma of our past and renew our true understanding of how to be in service is a motivation to get beyond the default mechanism of playing a victim, whether it has been expressed consciously or unconsciously.

Overtaxed nervous systems are thirsty and can be quenched by the current reprieve of Jupiter in Taurus which is blessing us with a year of fertility. Expect invitations to plant new seeds for your life, new roots into the terrestrial connection that is your birthright. Lean into the earth, her gifts, and nature, and soak it up into the cells of your body. This is the antidote to the tech momentum that is not just coming but invading. Humans are incredibly adaptable and my hope for us all is that we adapt and find ways to enhance our communion with our soul rather than selling it for the highest price. The shadow side of Jupiter is also greed and the too-muchness that is so present in our consumerist society. It is up to each one of us to make new choices for our lives and it is time to shift from our isolated thinking into the collective in regards to understanding how self-responsibility is truly the biggest service we can offer humanity.

NEW MOON IN TAURUS

And…this new moon in Taurus is a hefty one, perhaps the strongest of the entire year of 2023. Why? Because it is the first acupressure point reverberating from the April 19th Eclipse that opened a new chapter of conversation between the individual and collective around how we share responsibility and relate to one another. What we do in the next couple of years in this arena and how we shape our relations will define us for the rest of our lives. Jupiter squares Pluto this week which activates this ecliptic energetic and fires up the transformative engine with robust magnitude.

A T-square formed between an opposition of Pluto and Mars squaring Jupiter is about as power-hungry as one astrological aspect can be. There is an intensity in this message from the stars that will encourage passion and achievement, a drive for success…but at what cost? Remember that Jupiter is an amplifier by nature and bringing the megaphone to this dynamic can go one of two ways…unbridled enthusiasm or impulsive and consequential corruptive desire. This is a moment to behold both in the world and within our own psyche. Take note - this aspect may play out in the deeply buried realm of the unconscious but act out upon the surface without any self-realization of this occurrence. What I do love about this potential, is that it is energy, and although extravagantly potent, can be utilized consciously for immense strides toward improving our world, both inner and outer. This is magic and magic exists on a spectrum between white and black. The outcome will depend upon our intention, the choices we have already made in our hearts, and how we live this astrology under the magnifying lens and gravitas of this moment.

May the force for good be with us!
