Relationship?

Q: Relationship?

A: Each of us is an embodiment of relationship; relationship with God, ourselves, family, lovers, community, our world, and even the stars above. Without one another, we would be sovereign heartbeats looking for love aimlessly in order to know ourselves. We need each other. There is no actual alone, there is no true independence. And this Taurean full moon will remind us of this truth, as the veil continues to thin while the sun’s rays of Scorpio are cast across the night sky.

Throughout life, we move through our relationships just as the waves move in and out of the sea. We are born into them, wrapped up by them, fed and nurtured by them, and formed into personalities through them. We talk like them, we move like them, we begin to think in ways that reflect them. Life is a series of relationships woven between all things big and small, of fire and water, both loving and painful.

Eventually, we arrive at the chapter of seeking or meeting the one(s). There is an innate arrow of knowing that moves us towards another via biology, philosophy, and desire. It could be karma, ancient entanglements from lives past reuniting us to seek resolve or repeat the same. Or perhaps dharma, a mission that brings us together for a cause...or maybe even cosmic love, the continuation of an epic tale of true love blessed by the gods.

Regardless of the story, we magnetize our mirrors... whether we like it or not. Perhaps we realize this consciously or it blows us over as a total unconscious and karmic force. We are brought to those who can either destroy or liberate us, and our triumph and trials depend on our personal alignment with the will of that which is greater.

Of all the things that we may suffer from the most, the angst of misalignment is sure to be the most painful. If at any time we are choosing our own will, our own preferences, our own this or that, we will inevitably suffer a tremendous heartache, either now or in the imminent future.

What can we learn from relationships? Everything. They are the pulse of our beingness. Burrowing into caves like the mystics and sages from the past could actually cost us our modern-day awakening. All the inner work in the world could become mere novelty if we do not live it into true embodiment in real-time. It is in this way our spiritual practice is materialized in the here and now and for this we need relationships.

Trust. What if we could trust each other enough to see our partner as our light and shadow with curiosity rather than fear?

Love. What if we could take on loving with fervor, giving and receiving a pristine vision of the heart, illuminating our blindness?

Interdependence. What if while doing our own inner work as individuals, we could support each other’s spiritual progress and enlightenment by example and mirroring?

Presence. What if by simply giving our attention to one another, we felt seen and heard, thus healing our insecurities and deeply rooted childhood wounds?

Surrender. What if while fumbling across familiar and unfamiliar terrain alike, at times arguing, often projecting, and eventually softening into self-responsibility, and forgiveness, we could live into a possibility of forging a new reality as two into one?

May this full moon in Taurus reflect the healing of Venusian light upon all of our relations. And remember to be extra kind and patient amidst the whirlwinds of radical change amplified by Uranus nudging into conjunction with the moon for an unforgettable Hallow’s Eve.

We cannot change the world until we accept we are the world. This is the new conversation.
