Q: Where Do You Live?
A: Every month we have the cosmic privilege and blessing to receive a new moon cycle. We are drawn into a dance of planting seeds, new growth, vibrant realization, depth of reflection, and integration again and again. The moon is accountable, just as the sun, to provide us with the unceasing reminder of our inherent nature of death and rebirth. Has there ever been a new moon like this one? No, and there never will be again. Our Queen Moon, Mother Moon, Indelible Moon once again is new today and perhaps in a moment when we’ve never craved something ‘new’ more than now.
Astrology, the study of the celestial realms is a gift beyond measure. The deeper we venture into the complexities of this language, the greater the internal rewards are possible. What does this mean? There are no magic portals of which we can walk through unless we do our inner work. Every door has a key and every key must be earned. The path of knowledge is one of understanding the room you are in and giving it a thorough examination. You will receive continuous invitations revealing new hidden treasures and hallways of knowing. By exploring every facet of the current moment with great vigilance and care, the infinite is available to us in poetic amounts of justice to digest. The mirror of the heavens offers a profound reflection of choice and opportunity to step into the ownership of true self-responsibility.
A new moon in Gemini, this multi-tasking creative genius embodies both the masculine and feminine. As an air sign, we will speak, communicate, and think our way into our relations with one another, a sociality of movement that brings a welcome breath of togetherness after isolation. Today, many are still in ‘lockdown’—either forced or by choice. The cusp of uncertainty is real and with Pluto, Saturn, Venus, Jupiter, and soon to come, Mercury and Neptune all in retrograde, we are asked to redefine our personal boundaries, priorities, and modalities in life.
The impulse to go out, express, and even shout from the rooftops is ripe in the making. Pent up energy encapsulated in a weaving of fear, inspiration, desperation, innovation, and every other human emotion is seeking resolve. This is a global experience and a deeply personal one, a paradoxical thematic world theater that exists in each individual heartbeat. You are the main character of your choose-your-own-adventure and depending on your focus, your supporting actors could be everyone from your neighbor to POTUS to the true heroes on the front lines to the plant you’ve been talking to for months.
While energy seeks to move outward in true Gemini fashion, the cosmic tide is drawing in. Deep in, deep into the very tender layers of our psyche that feel so utterly vulnerable and raw. How do we manage such juxtaposition? Perhaps by getting still, even amidst the chaos that imbues, and listen for the internal nudge of intuition to guide us toward our next steps.
There is a wealth of reflection to glean from this retrograde brigade, each powerful planetary body bringing us further into an awareness of who we are in their archetypal reflection. While Pluto asks us to assess our relationship to power, Saturn is taking karmic inventory and asking us to settle our debts and to align with our purpose. Venus brings reevaluation to our relating with one another, our values, and offers resolve bringing balance to our dynamics and finances whether it feels good or not. Jupiter invokes a review of our personal philosophy and inspires an expansion on the inner realms of self-discovery. Mercury, infamous in a retrograde fashion, ultimately has us ask ourselves from where we are communicating, what we really want to say, and why. Lastly, Neptune’s veils of illusion and portals to other worlds may very well part, leaving a stark reality for each of us to navigate during this time.
The aspects of this moon indicate motion towards establishing a new path forward. With Saturn trining the new moon, we have the support and perseverance to reconstruct what has recently fallen and to do so with a steady and conservative pace. Mercury and Venus Rx are conjunct inviting contemplation and a deepening thought process around our relationship dynamics yet both are square to Neptune. This aspect inevitably offers a hefty dose of swirling confusion into the mix, possibly leaving us with a lack of clarity and some unwanted insecurity around what we feel we know to be true for ourselves.
As with any new moon, it is a time to plant seeds of light and intention for the cycle ahead. We’ve been through a lot together and there is a notion to let go of the heavy burdens of the past so we may become lighter and faster in our journey forward. The Lunar nodes have shifted from Cancer into Gemini and from Capricorn to Sagittarius. Walk into your truth, speak it, write it, and may this action release anything that binds you to old ways of being. The old structures are sloughing off, the deep patterning from our family of origin is surfacing to be let go. The current mantra of my heart… ‘I no longer live in the past, I am living into my future in the present moment’.

For me, I’m learning just how emotionally reserved I’ve been living my entire life.
